Sony Ericsson's first Symbian S60 phone was an epic disaster, at least for us. It was by far one of the most annoying phones I have ever used and the software was so badly put together that using the phone was painful. It did not even matter to us that it had a 12 megapixel camera with xenon flash with very good picture quality. The poor software made everything else irrelevant, making the phone almost unusable. Not to be deterred with failure, Sony Ericsson decided to experiment with Symbian again and came up with yet another smartphone, the Sony Ericsson Vivaz.


The Vivaz brings with it a new hardware design with features that are just a notch below than that of Satio. Okay. But the hardware wasn't much of a problem with the previous phone, it was the software. Unfortunately, Vivaz still runs on the same old Symbian S60 5th Edition operating system.

The Vivaz phone is the wrost phone ever in sony ericsson . The applications will not install in the phone. Only in the specifications speed is high but in the actual speed is very less compared to NOKIA 5800(cost 12000). Most problems in the phone is Charging port will become loose . After bying this phone port will be loose in eaither 1 day or 1 year but servise center people not able to repair the problem. so money will be in ash only. Prasad Naik & techtree dont seem to like sony ericsson , with that attitude you probably will give false review, if you like samsung and nokia stick with it dont give false review's. For ex. you say "camera quality could have been better" , everyone seems to be impressed with camera quality but u seem to still complaining. Sometimes i feel they are paid by advertisers to praise their product only.

I was going through the comments and I feel that Shan has a good point here .. In fact for a person like me it a matter of concern . I use 3 cell phones and bought all of them as guided by Techtree but none of them lived up to the review .. But when I bought my TV , HT and my computer - i did my own research,learnt how the technology works in the real world and contacted the right people for the know how - to my horror , the reviews were no where near GOOD..Well, even if we do keep my case how can we be sure that this not just another place where these companies pay to get the GREEN STARS.If any one form Techtree is reading this - be a sport and realize you responsibility .. as for me - i still have a little trust in u guys left :)

Dude your anger in your comments is revealing everything(being biased), if you cannot clarify your comments then just dont give comments. Further more instead of giving clarification of your comments or giving proof to prove me wrong you are trying to hide the real thing, the focus here is your review about the phone not my comments.

When reputed sites like gsmarena and phonearena describe the Vivaz's cam to be one of the best out there. This nobody comes and proclaims that the N97 cam is better.Gawd dude. These reviewers are the sole reason I stay away from these sites. They have no benchmarks to test these phones, everything is an opinion and they are so damn biased that the word review is put to shame. Do yourself a favor dude and stop reviewing.

If I was your English teacher, I would have committed suicide by now as I couldn't even teach my student to read properly. All I said in the review was that the N97 mini camera is fairly decent as well, so for someone who chooses the N97 over the Vivaz won't feel bad for loosing the Vivaz's camera quality. And here you go and put words in my mouth telling that I said that the N97 camera is better. Do yourself a favor and learn to read please. Or at least refrain from commenting here.

The arc-slide design was intorduced to the world by SE xperia X1 soon this was copied by the cheap plastic nokia n97 but the nokia guys were not able to design it in the form of arc so they put the support under the screen. Now this guy is saying that n97 mini is an alternate for the vivaz(more advanced than the x1in terms of processor speed and hd video recording). So the suggestion says a CHEAP piece of plastic(n97 mini) of already cheap plastic n97 is better than the vivaz. There are many more sites giving an unbiased review just look for the review at gsmarena. And many more reviews are available on youtube also. And HD video recording @ 24fps is beyond the imagination of the Finnish guys. . .

I'm sure designing an arc slider is not rocket science and if Nokia really wanted to they could have implemented it in their phones. But you can't just copy someone else's design, especially one that is the highlight of that phone's features. Now as to why I recommended the N97 mini is because a) it is cheaper, b) has better build quality and c) has a much more usable keypad. The rest of the feature set apart from the camera is the same. As for being cheap, the N97 mini uses a metal body unlike the all plastic Vivaz, which means it actually is better built, whether you would like to agree or not. As for the video recording, Nokia was the first to come up with VGA videos when SE was forever stuck in QCIF and QVGA resolution. The upcoming N8 does 720p at 25 FPS.

I used to be an SE fan about 2 yrs back. Now I dread the idea of even touching an SE. Why? Here's why, 1. Of late, SE seem to be making their phones straight form glass. I have seen at least 4 people around me with broken screens/ broken keypads/ broken toggle switches/ broken this/ broken that. Phew...Is it a marketing policy to make phones so brittle that the customer has no option other than to buy another phone? 2. SE seems to have forgotten the modest 'around 7-15k' customer. When companies like Samsung and Nokia are going all out to woo the '7-15k segment, SE seems to be hell bent upon releasing fantasy phones. It's time they looked up 'utility' in the Oxford English Dictionary. Just look at SE's phones and their pricing.

Dude u came to ur standard that you really HATE SE phones which means u have a BIASED OPINION abt SE phones, so nw onwards pls dnt review SE phones u hv lost that previlege by commenting like this. just based on the things that happen around u, u r not supposed to judge every thing . . . above that i request to the site owners(OBVIOUSLY IF ITS NOT U) to not to let this person to review SE phones coz this guy is BIASED. if it is u then shut down the site

It's time like these when you wish the site had no comments system. Or at least one which would automatically filter out the fanboys. In case any of you folks haven't noticed, the overall rating and the pros of the phone have been mentioned on the top as well, along with the cons. It got three out of five, which is generally considered a good rating. Whatever good things that were there to be said about the phone have been mentioned. Yet all you people noticed were the cons. If I hated the phone or Sony Ericsson I wouldn't have given it three stars. We don't review brands here, we review products. It doesn't mater to us whether it is a Sony Ericsson or a Samsung or a Nokia. If a product is not good enough then it would be shown no love. On the contrary, if it is good then it will be commended. We cater to the general public, not to fanboys. We are not going to hold ourselves back just because a certain fanboy somewhere will cry himself to sleep because a product from his favorite brand did not get favorable review from us. Nor are we going to get scared of troll comments and change our style of writing (so you can cut it out already). We present things the way they are. If you don't like to read the truth then you are more than welcome to leave. We decide what goes in our reviews and what doesn't and for now we are going to go with the truth, fanboys be damned!

Recently he reviewed 2 phones-Naite & Samsung Metro 3G, both having almost same features at same price. If u try both, u will find the Naite's performance to be far better. But his rating was 3.5 for Metro 3G & 2.5 for Naite. That tells the whole story. In fact his rating 4 Nokia 6208(the worst phone ever, even Nokia stopped it in 1 month) was 3. Need I say more...?

Regardless of the reviews details and conclusion, the "expert" would carry more weight if there were some accuracy, this is not Sony Ericsson's second Symbian phone, it is at least their 9th, a history which includes the excellent P1 and ground breaking P900.

Krazyfrog 3 - Sony Ericsson 0 (Aino, Satio and now this) Sony Ericsson devices are (now) aged and they needed a shot in the arm that Satio could've EASILY done that - But they chose to go with Symbian (of ALL!). Even Nokia knows Symbian sucks and can bring even a iPhone 3GS down to it's knees (if it ever happened). Resistive touchscreen. THIS.IS.2010!!! (kicks the phone straight in the well of death, alongwith the aino and satio)
