First Acer, then LG and now BenQ; this is the third pocketable projector to arrive in our labs. To be quite frank, I was a bit hesitant in reviewing this at first, as the previous two were a big disappointment when it came to brightness, which was very low. You had to be in a completely dark room if you wanted to see what's projected on the wall.
However, BenQ's little Joybee GP1 projector uses an LED lamp instead of a standard one, thereby giving you almost twice the brightness for the same lumens that a traditional lamp offers. Just like the previous two, this one is extremely small and portable with similar features, like a USB port for playing movies and photos (no music).
The GP1 has 100 lumens of brightness, a very nice 2000:1 contrast ratio, 858x600 pixels resolution and works on the DLP technology. There is no specific target audience for this as it appeals to anyone looking for a portable projector; be it for education, office or home. Let's see how this one fares compared to the competition.
