iPad Users Beware of emails Offering iTunes Update

Hackers target iPad users with Windows PC via emails to update their iTunes for better compatibility
Considering the blazing popularity of Apple iPad tablet, nefarious hackers now target the early iPad adopters with spam emails that lure to update latest iTunes. Security solutions provider BitDefender, has asked users to avoid any email invitation which asks users to download an iTunes update "for best performance, newer features and security". However, this attack is mostly targeted to Windows PC users and Mac owners need not worry about it.
If the user clicks on the download link, a confiscated download page looking similar to Apple's website shows up. This page downloads malicious code Backdoor.Bifrose.AADY as regular file to the user's system. This malware gets into explorer.exe process to open up a backdoor for unauthorized access to the system and thereby takes control of the system.
Apart from that, the Backdoor.Bifrose.AADY malware also attempts collects serial numbers and keys of software installed on the affected PC. It also logs in the passwords to the ICQ, Messenger, POP3 mail accounts, and protected storage.
Apple's iTunes software can be downloaded for free from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/. Avoid downloading iTunes from any other website or forum board for it may contain malicious code. Ensure your anti-virus software has been updated with latest virus definition database. If you think your PC has been acting funny or slow lately, pursue a full system scan using good anti-virus software.
