It took nearly nine months for the iPhone 3GS to reach the Indian markets after releasing in the US. Nevertheless, it's finally here and all those who have been waiting can now go get the world's most popular smartphone through completely official channels without venturing into the murky waters of the grey market.

However, it is not going to be cheap and is even more pricier than the previous iPhone 3G. So is it worth the stratospheric price tag that it commands? Can it hold its own against formidable opponents like the Nexus One, Motorola Milestone or the HTC HD2? Let's find out.

Hi, My question is how much of a difference will it make with regards to using features if I buy the phone from the grey market as there is a huge difference in prices? Also can you kindly advise current prices of 3G & 3GS with bill?

For those who were waiting for iPhone 4, go ahead & buy 3GS coz the latest one has many issue like low signal reception. Also, the demand of iPhone 4 is high but production is low so waiting list is growing day by day. Airtel claims that new version will be here by october but the reality is that it won't be here anytime soon (may be feb-march 2011). Not only this but if apple happens to launch it within this year then its for sure that those phones will be defective like the one is US.

One can discount the price for a time, but the late launch is not acceptable. Consumers now want and demand rightly - latest products, if they are to spend above 30K. The late launch couple with this huge price tag is definitely a dampener.

iPhone is a Smartphone..Once u start using, u will not wish to think otherwise !.. I have 3G version..not aware of any direct upgradation or exchange system / advantage at cost or otherwise.. is there any such scheme?..moreover extended warranty is required to be provided by Apple or Vodafone or Airtel..lacks on assured and guaranteed service arrangement communication / information to the users..

Have tried the china iPhone for 3 months and finally now decided to get the orriginal iPHone 3GS. Its superb, although expensive but worth the money. The applications loading and features is fast, processes better the a computer. Voice recognition for making calls or searching for files/songs. fantaastic and no regrets. A well engineered and superb product from Apple.

The phone is good , but the price is something I cannot afford , Is there any cheap phone which has a big screen and good for watching movies amd multimiedia ? I heard there is a videcon v1655 phone for that purpose , but there is no review for that. any one has experience with that phone ?

waiting for samsung wave. i like iphone, but since the cheap chinese copycats are a lot in use by people around, i am hesitanat to go for iphone. also iphone does have some limitations..wave will be my next handset..lets wait for launch and some reviews..

Nice review. However, a comparison with Motorola Milestone, Nexus One and HTC HD2 would have made the review more complete. Also, there is no mention of OS 4.0 which will enable multitasking, which will further improve the utility of the phone.
