AMD has unveiled new ATI Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition graphics card that can support up to 6 displays. Coming with 6 mini DisplayPort Connectors, the Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition joins the Evergreen generation of graphics card in Radeon HD 5800 series. This monstrous card is equipped with 2GB GDDR5 video memory and is meant specifically for ATI's multi-monitor supporting technology - Eyefinity. This Eyefinity 6 Edition graphics card is listed for $449 (Rs. 21,600 approx.) on Newegg website.

ATI Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition is the new member of the HD 5000 series family. While most of the HD 5000 series cards sport 3 connectors, ATI thought of pleasing gamers and folks who love multi-monitor setup. In came the Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 that has the same number of 1600 Stream processors and GPU core is clocked at 850MHz as in that of HD 5870.

Almost a clone of HD 5870, the new Eyefinity 6 Edition card is equipped with 2GB GDDR5 memory but uses the same 256-bit memory interface to offer 153.6 GB/sec memory bandwidth. Of course, there will be bump in power consumption and hence, HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition's TDP is 228W.

Latest DirectX 11 games like DiRT 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 can be played using this graphic cards' multi-display support. ATI Eyefinity enhancements can be best used with ATI Catalyst 10.3 drivers. So you can use six 1080p HD resolution offering screens and use this graphics card for the ultimate multi-display gaming experience.

Productivity experts and scientist can make the best of this graphics cards with multi-display configuration.

The question is would these cards still function in the same way on a Tri Sli board (obviously without running the SLI) but run an 18 screen configuration
