Continuing the global browser market trend we reported just last week, a latest report sourced from Statcounter has reaffirmed that things are not looking good for the dominant web browser on the World Wide Web. Microsoft Internet Explorer seems to be losing its potent market share with increasing speed these days.

While last week it was bad news from the EU where the market share of Internet Explorer slipped dramatically following the adoption of the "Browser Ballot", this time, its news from India that might be disheartening to folks over at Microsoft.

According to research firm Statcounter, Internet Explorer has shed its market share by as much as 20 percent in the past two years in India. This, even though things like the browser ballot is yet to arrive here. The steady decrease in the usage of Internet Explorer is attributed to the perception that it offers comparatively lower security protection compared to other browsers and due to the huge publicity any Internet Explorer loopholes related story were out in the media.

Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome seem to be the biggest gainers at the expense of Internet Explorer's loss. Experts also cite the decline to slow Internet speed. Of the 71 million Internet users in India, just 8 million have a broadband connection. Opera doesn't seem to be much affected by Internet Explorer's dip and seems to be preferred only by a select group of individuals and hasn't really manage to gain much advantage even after Internet Explorer lost a considerable  market share.

Will 2010 be the year when Internet Explorers successful run as the most popular browser in the world comes to an end? Let's wait and watch.

I have Windows7 64 bit on core2duo with 2GB DDR3. I can access net with lightning fast with IE8. No need to wait for loading Gmail. I can access my mail soon after I enter my login name and password.I am using BSNL BB. People are using FF for more speed. I don't know how FF and Chrome will give speed in a narrow bandwidth Internet connection.
