    Creative Zen X-Fi2

Other than good audio quality there isn't much to it

Great audio quality, microSD card slot, decent battery life, high quality bundled earphones, TV-out support, accelerometer for auto UI rotation

Sluggish interface, poor touchscreen response, no dedicated volume control buttons, no drag and drop playback of AVI files, weak loudspeaker, poor FM radio reception, X-Fi feature is a gimmick and distorts audio when activated, ultra short USB cable

The Zen X-Fi2 is Creative's answer to Apple's iPod touch. It features a large touchscreen display and has support for installing applications and games on the device. It also features a built-in loudspeaker, FM radio, voice recorder, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB memory capacities, with the ability to further increase them with a microSD card slot. It also features Creative X-Fi technology for audio enhancement and comes with high quality Creative EP-630 earphones in the bundle. So how does it compare to the reigning champion of the media player world, the iPod touch? Read on to find out.

Bundle

  • Creative Zen X-Fi2
  • Creative EP-630 earphones
  • Three size eartips (S, M, L)
  • USB cable
  • User Guide

We were pleased to see the EP-630 as part of the standard package, which is known for its good audio quality. Strangely though, the older Creative Zen X-Fi2 comes with the more expensive model, the EP-830. We are annoyed by the extremely short USB cable that we are seeing more often these days. We don't know whose idea it was, but we would like to tell these manufacturers that we would gladly pay a bit more for a longer cable than have our players dangling from the USB ports.

Dude, a picture is worth a thousand words and a video even more so. The video of you trying out the UI really really showed how sluggish it really is. Its too bad creative expects the XFi2 to take off like the ipod touch(gotta admit, even though I hate the iPod), that they released the SDK. This device does not look well thought out... How does it even make it out of their R&D labs?
