Most phones of today come with microSD card slots for memory expansion. Until now, the highest capacity microSD cards that you can buy for your phone were the 16GB versions.
SanDisk, a popular flash memory devices maker, has upped the ante as far as the micros cards capacity race is concerned -- with the announcement of the first 32GB microSD card. The card is expected to cost over $200 (Rs. 9,113 approx.), making it prohibitively expensive. The 16GB version of the card, for comparisons sake, is priced at around the $50 (Rs. 2,278 approx.) mark. Unless you have enough money and only wish to be an early adopter, it is recommended that you wait for the prices to fall before investing your dough on this one.
With microSD cards becoming common nowadays, the price is expected to fall very steeply in the months to come. A 32GB memory card for a phone in this age seems to be more than sufficient considering most devices that will support these cards will come with huge internal memories as well. Case in point is the Nokia N97, which boast of 32GB of internal memory. Add a 32GB microSD card to tit and the phone can hold 64GB of data!
Too bad Windows Phone 7 Series has removed support for memory expansion when most others are trying to cram in more and more data onto portable devices.
In your article / follow-up articles, kindly indicate where these 32GB Micro SD cards are available (Cities, Shops etc.). Do also note that a number of basic Smartphones are offering 32GB expansion with only a small internal memory available including Nokia, HTC, LG, Samsung and other brands.
The Nokia N8, comes with 16GB of onboard mass storage memory. Of this 14.2 GB is usable. If one adds a 32GB microSDHC flash memory card, the Nokia N8 will have 46 GB available.
Video movies (esp. those of DVD and Blu-ray quality) and Music are the most space consuming items on a phone these days.
The Nokia N8 has Matroska format compatibility right out of the box.
James Cameron's Avatar(2009) in 720p Bluray version Matroska container format occupies 8.2 GB. Nevertheless, with 46 GB on tap, substantial information can be carried on the device.
