Its specifications are similar to the fastest graphics card available from the rival camp ATI
Nvidia's next generation Fermi architecture based GeForce GTX 480 and GTX 470 graphic cards were reportedly due next week at the Penny Arcade Expo 2010. What is new is that DonanimHaber guys had posted leaked the photos of reference Nvidia GeForce GTX 480 graphics card but later pulled them off its site. Also, the pricing of upcoming GTX 480 for $450 (Rs. 21,600 approx. excluding taxes) and GTX 470 for $350 (Rs. 16,800 approx. excluding taxes) were leaked at VR Zone Forums. Note that the prices of these graphic cards from add-in manufacturers like XFX, Asus, MSI, Zotac and others may differ.
Nvidia Fermi architecture carrying GF100 GPU based GeForce GTX 480 will have 512 stream processors and 1536MB GDDR5 video memory using 384-bit memory bus interface. This Fermi graphics card has dual-slot fansink and graphics card has size of 10.5-inches which is as much as GTX 275.
While the GeForce GTX 470 graphics card will have 448 stream processors, 1280MB GDDR5 video memory with 320-bit memory bus interface. This card has thermal design power rating of 225W.
GeForce GTX 480 graphics card has Thermal Design Power rating of 295W which is as much as the TDP of ATI Radeon HD 5970 - 294W. Hence, we dont know if GTX 480 can outperform the monstrous HD 5970. However, one must not forget that GTX 480 is a single GPU based Fermi card and so one can image the level of output a dual-GPU bearing Fermi card would be capable of.
We shall eagerly wait for the GTX 480 and GTX 470 to be launched by the end of this month.
