Internet browsers make up for one of those largely used applications on our desktops or laptops. Since Internet Explorer wasn't really up to the mark, Mozilla's Firefox along with Opera managed to outperform it because of the rich features they offered. Mozilla Firefox being open source went a step ahead and provided a platform for developers to explore its potential and create plugins for it.

Learning from the performance of other browsers, Google's Chrome got its own platform for developers to create plugins called extensions. Here is a list of Google Chrome Extensions that we think will do you good.

I. Cooliris

Cooliris is a 3D Wall that displays images turning your browser into a great device for searching, viewing and sharing visuals on the web. Image searches, Facebook albums, Youtube, Picasa and also data on your PC can be viewed through this captivating 3D interface. It is a rich way to view photos or even videos. You can effortlessly scroll though thousands of images and videos in seconds without having to click from page to page. Cooliris also comes with Cooliris Channels, which puts 1.5+ million TV episodes, movies, and titles from over 70 leading content providers at your fingertips.

II. Google Dictionary

With this extension, you can just double-click any word to view its definition in a small pop-up bubble. The bubble also contains the link to a full page description of the word or phrase. This definition or description is picked from the wiki pages. Translation isn't supported as yet, but there is support for several other languages. This extension doesn't work on all pages; say like earlier double-clicking text on Gmail wasn't supported.

III. Mini Google Maps

Mini Google Maps is a handy way of reaching maps.google.com without actually having to go to the page. This helps to get the job done quickly. This extension opens a tiny popup that is large enough to view maps. It has the same functions that you have on the page itself, so you can just zoom-in/out and get directions all through this quick access point. Once done, close the popup and go on with your regular browsing.

cant do without cricinfo's offcial extn. also orkut extn and some really good extensions to view and print web-pages as pdf. must point out that the IE tab extension workd only if you have IE installed already in your m/c. which means Windows and not Linux :-(
