We already knew this was coming but needed an official confirmation. Just a week after news regarding the HTC Tattoo getting an official Android 2.1 update was reported, we have a confirmation that the Samsung i5700 Spica too getting the same treatment.

The update, which will be first rolled out in Germany, will soon come to other countries across the globe as well. Last week, we did see a video showing the Samsung Spica running an unofficial Android 2.1 ROM.

The 2.1 update will bring in support for nine home screens and support for augmented reality as well. Other new stuff includes Widgets, Visual bookmarks and an enhanced camera software that provides more imaging options and software tweaks. The contact management too has seen an improvement. Those who have the Spica might want to power on their Samsung PC Studio Suite and check if something is already available for you.

This phone is good one, With Price of 12200 you get the WiFi, 3G, A-GPS and the Android 2.1. Plus 800 Mhz processor with 1500mAh battery. I do not know if anyone else offers these features at this price. I am really enjoying this phone. And yes it has the Divx decoder on board, so I can just copy the .avi movie files and view them. Value for Money :)
