Recently, Infinity Ward promised to bring new Downloadable Content pack for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 through a viral campaign -  'mapathy'. In response, its "so-called" rival DICE Studios mocked this promotional campaign and disclosed details about two downloadable map packs for Battlefields: Bad Company 2.

Infinity Ward's mapathy campaign for Modern Warfare 2's DLC named "Stimulus Package" is said to contain 10 new maps. However, there's no official confirmation on it. This DLC would be available first for Xbox 360 on March 30 while PC and PS3 owners will receive the same later. Recently, Activision announced that the dedicated MW2 for PC servers would be pulled out and used for Infinity Ward Net infrastructure. This will be done mainly to support multiplayer matches. This has disappointed many MW2 players and hence, quite a few of them have moved to play the recently released Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

At the official Battlefield: BC2 blog, DICE has slammed Activision's 'Mapathy' campaign and announced that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 DLC pack would be available for free. This new DLC unlocks Arica Harbor Conquest Mode and Laguna Presa Rush Mode as two separate maps with respective game modes. Both maps would be available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game copy holders who downloaded the VIP codes.

What about PC? KM Troedsson, executive producer for DICE's Battlefield franchise, posted through his Twitter account - The PC players doesn't get a VIP code since it's not needed, they will all get these VIP packages through client updates.

Both studios look forward to the release DLC for respective games on the same date - March 30. So, which DLC pack would go for and why? Leave us a comment and let us know.

i am confused bout which game to buy..........bc2 or mw2 ??? it hear that bc2's multiplayer is better and mw2 singleplayer is better actually battlefield series are multiplayer games with singleplayer added and call of duty series are singleplayer games with multiplayer added. its upto you. if u like multiplayer games then go for bc2 or if u like singleplayer go for mw2. both are the best fps games EVER made

What happened to the free DLC? Huh. Yeah DICE is nothing but a bunch of lying retards trying to take a shot at what COD has put up. C.O.D all the way!!!!! DICE and BBC2 will never match the superior game play and stroyline of the all the CODs. We can go back and forth forever but it comes down to the fans and the numbers of who makes more money and which game has the most customer satisfaction. All those people that say they have played COD and BBC and think that BBC is better are just liers that have never played COD before and I do apologize to those who have cause you were the minority the others were just trash talkers. =)

Right now my turn I play both games on pc and my son has both on xbox, firstly mod warfare 2 is a great game the only let down is no dedicated servers and why have they done this simple money they know they make much more money from consoles, so its basically tough luck on us pc users. Bad Company 2 okay some great ideas put into this game which really was made for console only in its first instalment and converted for its 2nd to pc beng able to destruct buildings to clear out campers oops I mea snipers out is truly great but the game is so buggy and was released too early in my opinion and the beta testing which I did was more like a demo for people to play for free rather than testing as I still see bugs from the beta very bad. So overall we have 2 great games here and both have major flaws and let downs for us budding gamers I think smacking the 2 companies together would make an awsome next gen cod7 stroke bf4 will it happen of course not, lets hope they start separating console and pc again and give us back our dedicated servers and ability to mod the game Bas out who has played every cod and every battlefield

I used to be a huge Modern warefare 2 fan I played the hell outta the game but I dunno I got bored of it real fast online and found it so laggy at times, but when i jump on battlefield there is virtually no lag for me and the battles are just more open ended and never really play out the same I guess i like the space battlefield offers MW2 is to close combat for me which isnt bad but I still like the way battlefield handles close and long range battles, as for the dlc I like DICE's move to make it free even tho its maps that arent new lol but 1200 points for like a couple MW2 maps? yea I don't like lol

lol give the game a few months... to develop bugs that arent there? gladly. console version of BC2 isnt nearly as good as PC (no fps should even be on console), but still better than MW2. the kids that say they sold BC2 because MW2 is better are the ones we dont want on BC2 anyway because they have no idea what physics are, what compensation is, how to work as a team, or how to aim. BTW the MW2 map pack is 5 maps, 2 of them directly from MW1. and bc2 has new class specializations coming this week, a map pack march 30th, and if you're on PC - DEDICATED SERVERS, those alone win. IWNet was a worse idea than all the "ideas" used for CNC4. combined.

It's also funny how a lot of people tend to forget that before COD 3 (When they started charging for map packs with Call of Duty), Battlefield 1942 was already doing it with the Secret Weapons of WWII Add-on and Battlefield 2 was doing it with Euro Force, Armored Fury, and Special Forces. The only difference was that DICE called their new content "Boosters" and "Expansions" rather than DLC.

DICE had a 400% increase in server usage for BC2 compared to any other Battlefield before. Including 1943 which was the fastest and biggest selling download game last year. They didnt have enough servers for the demand but they have been really fast in acting to get servers up. I only had trouble for the 1st couple of days but since then the gameplay has been seamless. There is very rarely any lag at all. MW2 picks hosts rather than having dedicated servers and so games can be laggy as hell at times and the host migration takes ages to kick in. If you are 1 connection bar off full signal on MW2 then you will get delay so on your screen you are aiming at the person but on the hosts screen you are shooting where he was 2 seconds before. Then you have all the glitches in MW2. BC2 was beta and mp demoed to shreds so there are very few glitches at all. The MW2 story has the worst plot ever written. As with every Call Of Duty it was just a series of shock factor scenarios taken from films and other games and loosely strung together. BC2 follows the same squad through as they hunt down the head russian terrorist and the super weapon he has managed to get hold of from the Japanese from WW2. Its simple, straight forward but it allows time for the characters to develop and still tell a neat story however short it maybe. As for BC2 maps, they are maps the game already has but moved into different game modes. And the MW2 maps are just as bad, from what I hear half of them are from MW1 so youre paying for maps you already have there too. Which is better? BC2 has a better flowing story and lag free online with no glitches. MW2 had people glitching on day 1 and lag all over the place aswell as problems with NAT type which no other game has issues with and a single player story which has less depth and originality than anything I have every played or seen before.

Buggy multiplayer? oh, you must be a consolefag, because the PC version has no bugs that I've seen.

Wait and watch give that game a few months there will b so many glitches on that game that DICE will just abandon ship on that game they won't even try to put more money in it like infinty ward will to fix these problems sad days r coming for BBC2 players.

sure battlefield bad company online multiplayer is a little messed up right now. but it is getting fixed as we speak and its multiplayer does have camping noobs or people glitching. so i would take battlefield bad company over MW2 any day.

Luckily I already sold that HORRIBLE Battlefield Bad Company 2 game... After spending a few hours on that game I simply couldn't take it anymore. The multiplayer is awful compared to MW2!

First off the campain on BBC2 made me want to puke. The online play made me want to jump off a bridge. Slitting my wrist would have been more fun then playing that game agian. The only reason those maps are free cause they know that no one will buy them. All in all MW2 is a better game then BBC2. You would have to be blind to think that BBC2 is a better game then MW2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're falling for it? Really? BC2 came out less than a month ago, and they've had two map packs? They were all ready by the time of game launch. They release them as DLC instead of on the disc to trick gullible kids like you into thinking they're getting something for free.

At least Infinity Ward released a game with reliable multiplayer functionality! It's always a crapshoot whether or not you'll be able to get online with BFBC2. Unless DICE steps up, I'm selling the game to try to recoup the losses. The solo player campaign sucks compared to MW2, too.

When the PC world was abandoned by Activision it lost any support I might have given it. Turn your back on me and I will return the act and never look back. There is no game Activision could ever produce that I will buy. I have many adjectives to use for my feelings toward them but I will refrain here. Battlefield is the field I will be playing on from now own and I am sorry I ever gave Activision any attention at all.

I gotta say... Anything that's FREE is awesome. Especially when it comes to extra DLC for a game. So I have to "hand" it to "DICE" for this round, because they just rolled a "Yahtzee".
