If you thought an upgrade to Android 2.1 was reserved exclusively to select high-end devices, be prepared to be proven wrong. HTC has apparently confirmed that one of its cheapest handsets based on the Android platform, the Tattoo, will get an update to Android 2.1!

As of now, HTC seems to be busy integrating the Sense UI with Android 2.1 on the Tattoo to make it look desirable enough. This, according to HTC, will take time. But then, here you have a confirmation that your HTC Tattoo would be at par with its more expensive, well endowed siblings!

The Samsung i5700 Spica, another mid-range handset too will be receiving an official Android 2.1 update. Unofficial, versions are already available as of now. There is a video of the Spica running Android 2.1 as well.
