Google Reader Play helps you discover most popular articles, photos and videos in a user-friendly view
If you're bored or always resisted reading RSS (Really Simple Syndication) Feeds, then it's time for you to try out Google Lab's new Reader Play experimental feature. Users can now explore interesting reads, photos and videos with this Reader Play which appears with a black background without any sort of setup. The interface will resemble Windows Explorer's Filmstrip view for photos.
The Google Reader Play shows RSS feed items one by one in large size and displays a bar of thumbnails showing the current and next item in the lineup. Three icons - Star, Like and Share - are placed on the lower side of the page. The functions of these buttons are self explanatory.
The text based items in RSS appear in large fonts and hence make it easily readable, even from a comfortable distance. The photos and videos appear in large size. The arrow buttons will appear in a grey shade on left and right side. These can be used to navigate across the items.
The Thumbnail Bar will also offer to view Stream settings like All items, Starred items, liked items, Shared items and categories. Also, users can watch all the items in a form of slideshow.
The beauty of the Reader Play is that you can still discover amazing items without signing into Google Reader account. This way, you'll get to see the most popular items on the web.
But users would be able use the Star, Like or Share options only after logging into the Reader account. Also, if Google Reader has been added as Connected Site on Google Buzz, then all the content shared through Reader Play will appear in your Google Buzz stream.
