Apple has sued HTC for over 20 patent infringements
HTC has issued an official statement denying all allegations that were slapped on its face by Apple's patents infringement suit. HTC's official statement appeared on the Taiwan Stock Exchange website but has been pulled off now. The company stated, "We will closely cooperate with US justice system in the case to protect our own innovative values and rights."
This wasn't the first time where Apple has sparked a legal battle against HTC. Back In 2007, Apple and HTC stood against each other for Trademark tangle over the word 'Touch'. And now, Apple has filed a suit against HTC for infringing 20 iPhone related UI, underlying architecture and hardware patents. HTC started disaster management with an official statement - HTC is a mobile technology innovator and patent holder that has been very focused over the past 13 years on creating many of the most innovative smartphones.
HTC added that this lawsuit will have no major impact on its operations in the short term. What is new here is that Internet giant Google backed HTC through an officially issued statement saying, "We are not a party to this lawsuit. However, we stand behind our Android operating system and the partners who have helped us to develop it." Google Nexus One is one of the many Android OS clad HTC devices that is a proof of Google-HTC partnership. Hence, despite this being HTC's battle, Google is actively supporting it since the Android OS is being questioned here.
Apparently, HTC had plans to launch Google Chrome OS based Tablet but got those plans shelved citing they wanted to focus more on handset production. But that doesn't mean it won't happen ever. Apple might have anticipated the level of competition in that segment as well. However, this legal battle between Apple and HTC is serious and would certainly continue for a long time.
GROW UP APPLE! Motorola has had touch screen phones (Moto Ming) since before the I-Phone was just a grey hair in Jobbs nappy hairline. What a crock! They cant handle competition because they lucked into the whole I-Phone thing anyway, so thats pretty much all they got. If Apple is so known for its creativity, then why is the I-Phone all they have? They sucked at computers because they coundnt give choices, now its the same with their phone. I hope the "I" era comes to an end for them if they cant compete like other companies. Apple was, is, and will always be a second rate, nitch company that doesnt have the mindset to be a "mainstream" competitor. Now that other manufactures are "growing with customer demand", all Apple can do is cry. Try making something new, oh yea i forgot, you dont know how to. Eat It Jobbs!!
All Apple's competitor products are so great precisely because they stole the original ideas from Apple in the first place. Name ONE device before iPhone that looked and worked like an iPhone. - Now there are numerous copies. Apple is just protecting what is rightfully theirs. There is nothing to stop the competition from innovating for themselves, ion fact this lawsuit should enforce that they do. This is a good thing for everyone. Stop whining and deal with it.
I currently use an HTC droid and I CANT STAND apple or thier products. I know that they make a great device - but I also know there are TONS of products out there that are just as great for both computers and media/phone devices. All Apple represents is an overpriced name brand. I hope HTC wipes the floor with them.
I would think that Apple is in a much more vulnerable position as far as patent violations than HTC is. This could be their downfall if others take a defensive position against this move.
Apple is on a wild goose Chase. They really feeling the heat on their backs. They trying every possible measures to stop the mamoth growth of android and HTC. Man every one has to end their reign at some point.
