Sony PlayStation's Motion Sensing Controller is anticipated to be launched this year but the company is calling it with a different name - Arc. Sony has filed a trademark against the name PlayStation Arc in Japan. What is surprising that even Konami has filed for a trademark for a new game called Gradius Arc, reported Siliconera. Either there is some relation between both these trademarks or it will create confusion. Did we miss out on Microsoft's Arc mouse and Arc Keyboard?

Last month, THQ CEO referred to Arc several times during the earnings call, reported Games Venture Beat. Also, way before that, Sony's registered PlayStationarc.com domain details were scooped out. Obviously, loads of evidence pointing that the Motion Sensing Controller would be named as PlayStation Arc.

The wand-like device controller is due this Fall and will finally clear all clouds of speculations. Firstly, the EyePet and Flower would get to make the best of the Arc after network update. Other games would be released simultaneously. Game Developer Conference 2010 starts next week so we'll stay close to what Sony has to announce. We assume the Konami's Gradius Arc patent may be a part of company's Gradius serious in which the Gradius V came for PS2. At PlayStation Arc launch, Konami might show its Gradius Arc game as well.
