Create Google Buzz Profile

From this point we advice you to make necessary changes to your Google Profile first. In case you don't have one, do consider making a Google Profile, as all your Buzz posts will appear there. Head to www.google.com/profiles/me/editprofile page for creating your Google Profile. Yes, it's just like creating yet another Facebook Profile, but not simple as a Twitter profile.

Note: Almost everything you feed in your Google Profile appears as part of your information on the same. Hence, give a good thought on what information you wish to provide in there.

Once you land on the Google Profile Editing page, fill up the necessary information about yourself, your school, company, and other details. With the name of city, Google will be able to show your location (eg. Mumbai, New York, Shanghai) using pins over a static Map.

Then of course you can add few details about your mirror-cracking personality under the Personality tab.

Scrolling down a bit down, you'll come across a bit confusing part of your Google profile. Under the Links section, you'll have to put in URLs (hyperlinks) of all the desired profiles, pages and your own websites. For instance, we added 'http://www.techtree.com' and the Link name as 'Techtree'. Similarly you can add Twitter URLs like http://twitter.com/USERNAME - Here Username represents your own username, just like in our case it is Techtree.

You can also add direct links to your Facebook profile. Like in the case of Techtree, it is 'www.facebook.com/techtree' and then write the link name as 'Facebook account' or 'Follow me on Facebook'.

Profile URL section plays an important role of protecting your privacy on Google Buzz. Unfortunately, these are the only options provided by Google to keep your privacy intact. But if you don't, then your Gmail would be easily exposed to the Wild Wild Web spammers. How? Here's the explanation.

In the Profile URL section, the user is first shown an option to show their profile URL as - http://www.google.com/profiles/USERNAME. Again this USERNAME is the same Gmail ID that the user utilizes as Gmail address. For instance, our Google Profile link is - www.google.com/profiles/techtreeweb and in there techtreeweb happens to be our Gmail address.

The other dumb alternative offered by Google here is to represent the profile URL by numbers. As if bots, spammers wouldn't know what those numbers signify. For the time being we suggest you to use numbers and save the URL link somewhere to add it later on your blog or website with contact information.

Once done adding necessary information on this page, hit 'Save Changes' button at the end of this page.

Note: At this very point, Google offers you a single click option to delete your Google Profile and remove Buzz from you Gmail completely. This option is displayed in red text at the bottom of the Edit Profile Page.

Moving ahead, users can add photos to their profile from Picasa, Flickr or any other photo service by clicking on the Photo Tab.

User can choose whether to add their contact information or not from the 'Contact Info' tab next to Photo Tab. Here the users will be offered to choose who all can view the contact information. Simultaneously, four distinct groups - My Contacts, Friends, Family, and Co-workers, can be created to allow those group members to view contact details. Once done, hit save changes to save your efforts.

Buzz is very cool concept but it's still in the development stages although it's launched and available to everyone. It lacks some of the features expected from most of the networking users, like more graphical interface, colorful pages & profile layout, etc.. Google should create and start some thing more interesting and interactive services using Buzz, if they want attract more site-traffic. And it would be lot more fun if Google could launch a separate webpage for Buzz instead of just hanging around Gmail. Am sure most of the users wouldn't have understood what exactly Buzz is all about which includes me also. But once I started using it, it seemed like a nice way to find people and make new friends, updates from your contacts, share almost everything you've got in other social websites. I hope Google Buzz will make us proud some day.. :) [plz do reply if u like & support wat I've written. thank you]

Buzz is a bit too complicated for me. It is simply mish-mash of Orkut, facebook and twitter which leaves it worse of than all of them.
