When it comes to portability, nothing comes even close to a USB Flash drive. It was only the capacity where it was found to be lacking until recently. But now we have Flash drives with larger capacities, allowing you to carry almost everything that you could carry on an external hard drive. We had tested the 32 GB version of the Kingston Datatraveler 150 USB Flash drive last year and now they have released the 64 GB model in India. We have one with us in the labs and we will put it through our tests to try and find out if the large capacity affects the performance in any way.

The Flash drive comes in a nice transparent blister pack. A USB extension cable would have allowed you to plug it into a rear USB port, without the need to reach to the back of your PC, but unfortunately, this has not been provided with this drive. It no longer comes with a lanyard, as had been provided with the 32 GB version last year.

With two different flashdrives, I get a write-protected alert after downloading less than 1/2 GB of data. I am unable to go around this "write-protection", making the flashdrive basically useless to me. How can I troubleshoot this problem?

I think because of the very very bad write speeds ReadyBoost is not supported on this drive in Vista and 7.

I have seen this instability even on smaller cousins of DataTraveller. I used 16GB DT2.0.1 which would work really really slow on Windows 7/ Vista. While I never had any problems with my 1 GB Transcend. I do not recommend this product or any other Flash Drives from Kingston.

Its better that we buy an Portable 500 GB external hdd for less price . Only advantage is small form factor and nothing.
