LG seems to be happy with Android and Windows Mobile

While Samsung went ahead with its own smartphone Operating System - the Bada, LG doesn't seem interested in developing one on its own and seems content with the support it receives from Android and Windows Mobile.

At the just-concluded Mobile World Congress at Barcelona, LG's head of handset unit, Skott Ahn has reaffirmed that LG doesn't see itself venturing into the mobile OS designing segment - not at least in the next few years. The company is in fact quite happy to make devices that are compliant with major smartphone Operating Systems and leaving the OS part to be taken care of by the experts. LG believes that it doesn't need to dedicate resources in making an entirely new OS as established and well-equipped players already exist.

The company also feels there isn't much room for any new OS in the overcrowded smartphone OS segment which is currently dominated by Symbian, Windows Mobile, Android, iPhone OS and Blackberry. In fact, it believes that in the near future, only three OS'es will survive and remain popular. We bet that sure included the Windows Phone 7 Series.

While we do agree with LG that the smartphone OS is already overcrowded, it is important to note that people would always welcome a new OS - should it be revolutionary and absolutely a treat to use. Does the world need yet another smartphone Operating System, we ask?

Yes... LG's decision is strongly supported as already Mobile OS market is overcrowded and existing OS's meeting people expectations. And if we see at desktop OS, still Windows only the dominating, irrespective there are too many OS's. as in near future, OS is going to dominate market, only one among existing will raise... So, manufacturer better go with existing OS's.

right move by LG, samsung made Bada, still it may take long to be adapted by other manufacturers. since market has enough Mobile OSs. and now the Symbian is open source and free for implementation and development, this can be the right platform. still, wishing Bada a huge success.
