Will your Romance Survive the Tech Tsunami?

Remember the good old days when you had butterflies in your tummy before you proposed a girl on whom you had a big crush? When was the last time you wrote a love letter to your partner? Is flirting with your virtual world friends considered as cheating your real partner?

I'm sure most of us have never really given these questions a serious thought. Also, do we even have the time for it? I mean, who would waste hours writing a nice (read legible) love letter when you can simply type down your feelings on email, or better, an SMS? Not only is it short and sweet, it's faster too! After all, how long will it take to type out "I luv u baby.. Waiting to see u soon..online".

As if our offices and colleges were not enough to keep us from spending more time with our loved ones, we now have a whole new world to live virtually - on our favourite Twitter or Facebook. Most of us have a zillion "friends" on our list online and are too busy knowing what they are up to - all the time. Tweets like "I just left for work" or "I am having a cheese burger for lunch today" are common these days. You now know what a person sitting miles away from you is having for lunch but still have no clue what your family is having for lunch while you are at work.

Asking out someone you really liked was something that gave you jitters earlier. However, thanks to chats and social networks, leaving a message or comment on their page can make things a hell lot easier for you. On the flipside, these things also make romance dead cold. Would you not like to be proposed with a few more efforts at least? Most of us would, but are a bit too busy to even realize that those things can still be done.

Forget proposing the girl of your dreams, do you even have a real crush on a real girl? Most youngsters these days are in love for sure but with a Kitana from Mortal Kombat or a Cortana from Halo. Playing these games and ogling on those oh-so-sexy virtual gaming characters contributes a lot to your oh-so-happening love life. It's not surprising anymore that a few gaming psychos actually get married to and are committed to these online goddesses. What would have been considered "freaky" a few years back has become "cool" these days.

If times are changing why are we clinging to the past and resisting change?? I mean, is it really necessary to write a poem? What matters is how you feel and not how good a poet you are!! But some points in the last paragraph are appalling.(and true)
