Micromax has announced the launch of the Q5, its latest dual SIM handset complete with a QWERTY keyboard and a track ball, in the Indian market.

The phone, a GSM+GSM variant, comes with a 2.2 inch QVGA screen and tips the scales at 95grams. At the rear, it has a 2-megapixel camera for casual imaging. The same camera can also be used for video recording at unknown resolutions. It comes with a microUSB port for transfer of data and supports Bluetooth with A2DP. Mobile Internet can be accessed, thanks to full GPRS, EDGE and WAP 2.0. support.

It comes with 15MB of onboard memory, which can be expanded upto 8 GB using MicroSd cards. It also comes with a Facebook application and an IM application for multiclient chats. For browsing, Opera Mini is preinstalled. The phone supports various audio formats including MP3, AMR, MIDI and WAV formats. There's an FM Radio as well with support for an interesting feature called Schedule FM record is also present. Using this feature, you can schedule the FM in the phone to start at a particular time.

The 1000Mah looks capable enough to power this phone for up to 5 hours if you talk continuously. The claimed standby time is 180 hours. The phone is now available across the country and will set you back by Rs. 5,100.

I somehow managed to find service center …. whn i reach there were 2 ill-mannered & illiterate people out there who doesn't know how to talk to customer......... I feel like I came to gaffer market…. Pathetic & frustrating it was…… You need to delete each n every message individually, there is no option to delete several messages. Only one SIM works at a time No speaker volume- you cannot change the volume of speaker while talking… Trackball- From the very first day doesn’t work properly

Unless until Ankit Handa is a 2nd standard student, I guess this would be the first phone he would have ever used. Almost everything which he has said is incorrect. You definitely can delete all messages in a folder together Both the sims are active at the same time. You can get calls on sim1 and sim2 at any point of time. When you dial a number, it would prompt you with which sim you would want to make the call. Maybe when you are talking on one sim, maybe you wouldn't be able to make a new call from the second sim (never tried), but you definitely can make a conference call from the same sim if your network provider supports the same. Trackball works fine and is way better than the chinese versions which comes up although it looks similar (don't know who copied whom) The only thing which I agree is... so far I was unable to figure out how to change volume while on a call. If anybody knows, please let me know

Micromax q5 is a copy of HTC mapple but the phone is awsome in its price tag and all its services and the only drawback its service of micromax company other things are at the best and i have never faced any problem with the phone as i am using it from 6-8 months and the cell phone rocks

I BOUGHT THIS PHONE ON 5TH JAN AND WORKING REALLY GOOD SPECIALLY THE "WOLFSON" SPEAKER WITH "YAMAHA" CHIP. ONLY DRAW BACKS ARE1. THERE IS NO DEDICATED KEY,2. NO FLASH. CAMERA IS GOOD. SOUD QUALITY IS THE BEST. WEIGHT IS GOOD. BUTTONS WORK FINE ETC, I PAID Rs. 4400/- AT CALCUTTA WITH ONE YEAR WARRENTY ON PHONE AND 6 MONTHS ON BATTERY

I just bought this phone a 10 days ago. I think its value for money. Bought this at Sangeetha mobile, Bangalore for Rs.3850/- with warranty and 1 yr insurance. I observed one drawback. When you keep this in you pocket, and if the trackball is accidently pressed in the pocket, the trackball light and the display light glows. This could lead to battery consumption and a need for recharge of battery sooner than required. Does anyone have a solution for this wherein the display light does not 'turn o'n until we unlock the phone? If yes, please let me know the solution. Otherwise, the speakers are great. Features and options are good. Overall a good phone to invest on for the money they charge. - Shashi

i bought Micromax q5 on 2 feb.. at Rs 4250/- with bill but i have to buy memory card separately... phone has certain advantage and limitation.... Advantage: phone have 3.5MM jack, track ball with very smooth... email clients which support POP and IMAP (i ahve configured Gmail) qwerty pad is very nice sound good as compared to Sony F305 u can also read TXT files... earphone is too good we can compared with sony ericsson HPM-64 earphone.. phone have java so we can install many no. of softwares and games with resolution 340X240 we can set different java application with different gprs setting... Limitation: if u are connected with sim1's GPRS u can't receive call from Sim2 but u can divert the call... u can't read PDF file... Maual says u can watch AVI but i can't... thr is no way to increase or decrease the volume at background..(the only way is to change the volume is from audio player.. earphone and charger is slightly small...

if you aare focusing to browse the net on ur phone then nokia 5130 would be better idea but if you like to chat and want to surf social media then q5 is better coz it has integreted social sitess in it and its qwerty keypad makes it so easy to chat.

Q5 Dominate it in every sect just the thing i dont like in Q5 is its Screen but still its good not great and otherwise not even a single phone in market to compete it in price range, quality , features its best buy i have it now using from last 1 1/2 month superb quality i have airtel Gprs running on it i got the rs 98 plan for 2gb a month and it rocks even i can install mainly all application/ games of resolution 320x240 i have like 25 installed till now and all java app supported on Nokia E61,63,72 works on it awesome phone =) music is superb

I have purchased on 14/02/2010 and just within aweek the track ball and few of the keys on keyboard stopped working . Now ia m not able to un lock keypad, not able to take photoes as trackball is not working.. now the phone is just waste for me.. This is a poor man's berry. I own a blackberry curve and nokia e51. THe main differences are between micromax q5 and my blackberyy and nokia= Micromax q5 doesn't support any email client, doesn't have theme feature, the menu system is as odd as nokia 1600, no volume keys, one sim when active the other sim stays switced off(while call in progress), processing power is slow. But for an average blackberry person who really cannot afford a blackberry or nokia e-series can opt for it. but i hope Micromax has atleast given much of its technology and anticipation of general class for a full qwerty pad handset.
