Superb design and build, excellent display quality, Android 2.1 OS with Android Market, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, great interface design, excellent web browser, good connectivity features, voice to text converter
Display has poor sunlight visibility and slightly over-saturated colors, interface is occasionally jittery, no DivX/XviD playback, inadequate loudspeaker volume, keys under display are a bit frustrating to use
The Nexus One is one amazing piece of equipment. I must say I am a big fan of the whole industrial design theme that HTC has going on here. The Nexus One design is from the same school of thought but has its own personality compared to other HTC handsets. The design has the charm of a smoothened stone found on river banks. It looks beautiful, yet in an understated, classy way.
The build quality of the handset is terrific too. The Nexus One makes use of Teflon coated metal and rubberized plastic to good use. The metal surrounds the display and goes around the back, while it has plastic at the base and on the back and battery cover. The Nexus One is also a fairly slim and light handset; more than the iPhone 3GS. The curved design also feels great in your hand and the rubberized surface gives decent grip.
On the front, we have the 3.7-inch display occupying most of the space. Above the display is the thin earpiece, which also contains the proximity sensor and the display light sensor. Below the display are a row of touch sensitive controls and a trackball. I found these controls to be a bit temperamental. Sometimes, they would work even with an accidental touch of your finger and trigger their respective functions, while at times, they wouldn't function even when we wanted them to; like the back button. The trackball is fairly useless for most part and only come into play when you have to scroll the cursor between text. It also glows in different colors to indicate different activities; such as when you receive a message or have a missed call.
Kindly let me know the best among these bunch in terms of value for money, build quality and performance.
1. Google Nexus One
2. HTC Desire
3. Samsung Galaxy i9000
4. iPhone 3GS
Its gonna cost somewhere around $25k when it reaches india with certain modifications...you can check it on ebay and buy it for $450 + however plz avoid getting it shipped to india from US as custom tax people will make you pay tax upto the limit of 38%..
so if you have someone in US ask then to buy one from there and bring it by hand to you in india.
cheers ...wud luv to have this phone...
Does this phone come with FM ?
I also have a question to the technologists, Can I install Windows Mobile 6.5 on a Nexus One phone ? Is that possible ? Thinking logically, it should as this the same hardware spec's for HTC HD-2. So it should work with Win Mob too...
I m planning to do this way as the exterior looking this phone is gr8 but i dont really like Android OS.
Pls tell me your views on the above.
" the service requires an Internet connection on the phone as conversion process takes online at Google s servers."
Are you sure of this?
Does this mean that, your voice will be sent to cloud which converts it to text and sends back to phone all at fraction of a second?
Double resolution compared to iphone, double ram and double the processor power, almost double megapizel camera, and half(or 1/4th) storage as that of iphone.. Not a bad deal at all.! If your internet usage is mainly for gmail, orkut, and other google sites, then this is the best money can buy!
No doubt ,the phone is pretty good but it's availability in India is not so easy .Let it be available in India then it would be think about purchasing .
Nexuss doesnt make US market thrilled. It forces google to bring down its innitial price. So eventully it is good news for Indian market, as google will see other market important. (As iPhone get hit in Us, Apple doesnt need for lowering its price in forign.)
Hope N.O. price will come down in near future, then it will be dearer one!
Does this so called "superphone" has basic feature like FM Radio? why all great mobiles nowdays dont have it. except Nokia.
you guys should point it out unless you are ifans. :)
When I say 'excellent display quality', I am talking about the actual quality of the display, which is simply phenomenal. The sunlight legibility has nothing to do with the actual picture quality. The slight over-saturation of colors is a bit of an issue bit it is still minor and doesn't detract from the overall viewing experience.
