Internal model codenames found deep inside the iPhone OS 3.2 SDK framework files

    mail share

Details about the upcoming Apple products are often found in the iPhone OS updates. New iPhone OS 3.2 SDK was released for iPad and it brought along information about future iPhone OS-based hardware. Codenames of next generation iPhone and iPod Touch models were found listed deep in the iPhone OS 3.2 SDK frameworks, reported Engadget.

The iPhone OS 3.2 SDK comes with iPad Simulator which carries several hidden files. Under those hidden files resided codenames N72, N88 and N89. Don't confuse them with Nokia phone models. According to Engadget's 'highly knowledgeable and trusted sources' N89 is a codename for next generation iPhone (4G). Apple has released iPhone and iPod Touch firmware 3.1.3 and that too carries a new model codename N80, which is likely to be next iPod Touch.

Reports on the model codenames might confuse several since N90 was claimed to be model codename for next generation iPhone model and not the N89 discovered in iPhone OS 3.2 SDK. Similar internal model codenames were found when iPhone OS 3.0 arrived. Let's hope that future iPod Touch models come with a camera at least.

The sad thing is even major news outlets "edit" the headlines to get hits even when the article is inconsequential

There's not a damn thing that these ppl said that actually matters. But I read it just like all of u and now they got their money for ads. Good business plan: report on nothing but come up with enticing titles...

LOL! My thoughts exactly! Now I'll be able to sleep tonight, with the knowledge that I'm privy to such exclusive insider information. I only wish I could pre-order several of the N89's. Although I am a bit disappointed that more gains weren't made, I suppose it was simply too much to hope for an N91 much less the impossible dream of an O series. Get a life People!!!!!! It's a freaking phone!!!!
