If you're playing the game for the first time, you need to download the GoD player. This is a onetime install after which all your games will be managed through this client. I first tried a small game like Alien Arena just to see how the system works. The first thing I noticed was a small issue with Opera, as the site seems to think you don't have the GoD player installed even though you do. This works fine in IE though. Once you click on Play/Download, the GoD player checks if the game is already installed. If not, it starts downloading. A couple of things that we noticed are; if the connection is lost in between during the download (which happened a couple of times) you have to go back to the site and click on Play for it to resume, as in there is no resume function in the player itself. Also, while one game is downloading, you can't play any other game since even though you may have finished downloading different titles, you always have to start the game through the website after logging in. So if your internet happens to be down that day, you're stuck.
In the settings of the player you can select the amount of disk space you wish to reserve on each drive
I also tried IGI:2 Covert Strike and NFS: Most Wanted since it's been a really long time. Another good thing is you don't have to wait for the entire game to finish downloading as most games allow you to play it half way through the download process. Since we had a relatively fast connection here in the office, it didn't take much time. If you look at today's tariff plans of different ISPs, you'll notice time based or fixed usage based plans, which many people ignore, actually make more sense if you plan on using GoD. For instance, even though you may have a download limit of 4GB but with 2MB/s, this way you can enjoy faster downloads of your favourite games, since it won't be counted in your monthly usage.
Verdict
The Games On Demand service from Indiagames is a really great way to bid farewell to piracy. For roughly the same price you would normally pay for a pirated game copy, you now pay the same amount per month where you can enjoy over 300 titles. You may not get the most recent titles, but the list is being constantly updated and sooner or later it should be available. In some countries they have Verizon and Yahoo, some of the big players who offer the same kind of service. However, GoD is currently the only one to enter this arena in India which I think is very brave and will pay off well. Overall, this seems to be a good way to enjoy your favourite games legally and with the new Community and social networking connect tied into the service; it can only get better.
No multiplayer sucks!
and if you dont want any multiplayer, the only thing which comes to one's mind is piracy [If not looking forward to spend lots of money]
These people should start the game renting/selling system!
