Company head slips out details stating Apple tablet is based on iPhone OS
We knew it! Yes, that's what most of the tech bloggers and analysts are going to say about this news. McGraw-Hills Publication CEO Harold McGraw III has confirmed that Apple will launch a new tablet that will run iPhone OS and the e-books would be transferable. This just confirms that Apple IS going to launch a tablet afterall. McGraw confirmed this at the company's fourth quarter earnings call. Looks like McGraw-Hills Publication is one of publishers Apple may have tied up for media content for the tablet.
The month's wait over the secret of what's cooking behind Apple's closed doors is now wide open. It's a tablet based on Apple's iPhone OS. Obviously, Apple wanted to make the best of its iPhone OS and also the huge App Store that's earning them big bucks. This Apple tablet would be yet another e-book reader in a way but hopefully, would carry something novel in it.
Here's the transcript of what McGraw III said in the interview:
"Yeah, Very exciting. Yes, they'll make their announcement tomorrow on this one. We have worked with Apple for quite a while. And the Tablet is going to be based on the iPhone operating system and so it will be transferable. So what you are going to be able to do now -- we have a consortium of e-books. And we have 95 percent of all our materials that are in e-book format on that one. So now with the tablet you're going to open up the higher education market, the professional market. The tablet is going to be just really terrific."
the Amazon App for iPhone is already available from the App Store despite of the fact 9.7-inch display bearing Kindle DX exists. A huge screen bearing Apple Tablet would surely be favored by digital versions of newspapers, magazines and e-books. Get ready for the big fight of e-book readers in the market where Apple's Tablet would be most premium product. McGraw also spoke about the content being transferable so it's possible that users will get to sync the bookmarks and notes between the iPhone and the new Apple Tablet.
the average price of this Apple tablet is rumored to be anywhere between $700 (Rs. 33,600 approx.) to $1,000 (Rs. 48,000 approx.) which will be a bit of a concern. The tablet may be for limited supply initially and then Apple may scale up production based on the consumer demand.
We'll have to wait for less than 10 hours to see what functions does this new tablet running iPhone OS bring. Multi-tasking, back ground processing, and much more is anticipated from this tablet.
