Skyfire has announced (PDF) the launch of the latest version of its browser for Symbian S60 devices.

Version 1.5 brings with it support for S60 Fifth Edition devices apart from bringing in improvements to the Third Edition version that was already around for quite some time now.

On S60 third edition devices, the browser brings in smooth scrolling, a redesigned, fresh user interface, and quite a few noticeable performance tweaks. The new S60 version will see a finger friendly UI with support for Kinetic scrolling and auto-rotation.

Unlike competition Opera Mobile 10, Skyfire is capable of playing YouTube videos and boasts of displaying web content "as is". Having taken it for a brief test, we can certainly vouch for that bit. However, there are some areas where Opera Mobile 10 stands tall. These include support for tabs, the fresh UI, faster user interaction. (SkyFire was a bit slower than Opera Mobile on the Omnia HD we used to test the browser.)

To check the new version of the browser, all you need to do is to head to http://skyfire.com on your PC or http://m.sj\kyfire.com on your phone browser.

We leave you with a few screenshots of the browser in action.
