Dark Void is one of those games which gathered great attention when it was announced due its unique gameplay style. Today, after the game is launched, we are definitely not disappointed. Developed by Airtight Games and published by Capcom, Dark Void (DV) is built using the Unreal III engine and is available on all three platforms. If you've played any Capcom games before, especially Bionic Commando, you immediately notice a stark resemblance in gameplay and instead of the Bionic arm, you have a jet pack in DV.

Will doing his Iron Man bit

We've managed to get our hands on the final build much before the launch date of January 22 and wrapped up the game quickly to bring you this review.

Gameplay:

Our protagonist in DV is a young bloke named William Augustus Grey who is a cargo pilot and on one of his trips, crashes into the Bermuda Triangle. Along with him there is Ava, Will's love interest from the past. Over the years, they drifted apart in a true Hollywood style. So, there's always a hint of sarcasm in all the dialogs they have right through the end of the game. After the plane crashes into the Bermuda triangle, they are teleported into a parallel universe which is surprisingly a lush rainforest a.k.a, the Void.

When you first start the game, you actually control another character who already sports the jetpack and you are thrown directly into a dog fight with these alien UFOs. I'm not sure why they decided to do this but as if you play the first chapter, I think it becomes very clear.

There's nothing like smashing a droid the old fashion Melee style

The first chapter is really boring since you've just crash landed and you are on foot with a machine gun making your way to a nearby village. This is where the game allows you to get used to some of the basic maneuvers like sprinting, taking cover (a la Gears of War style) and the new feature called vertical cover. This makes things very interesting and adds a new dimension to the gameplay.
