Company will now focus on next generation mobile phones
Earlier this month, HTC was rumored on working with Google for a tablet running Chrome OS. Anthony Petts, Australian sales and marketing director, HTC, has confirmed that all work on the planned tablet has been suspended, as reported by Australian Channel News site. The company said it is now focusing its efforts on a new generation of mobile phones .
HTC and Google team were rumored on prepping Apple iSlate killer tablet running Chrome OS. But now, as per Petts, the plans have been shelved and the focus of the company is on new generation mobile phones. This doesn't mean the plans have been shelved forever. Also, it looks like HTC is following the age old 'wait and watch' formula for tablets and see if there's any scope for them as well.
Again, we believe that a proper tablet might be out of question as of now, but new version of HTC Shift running Android OS is quite a possibility in new generation of mobile phones. As of now, HTC is busy expanding its mobile phone family and latest addition Touch HD2 is their safe bet.
Looks like HTC will be focusing more on Android and Windows Mobile 7 based devices anticipated to be released by the end of this year or in 2011.
