Connectivity

The Samsung Corby Mate is a Quad band GSM handset. The phone also supports GPRS and EDGE but there is no 3G connectivity available. The phone also has Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP support and USB 2.0 connectivity.



The call quality and network reception was excellent. The speaker volume was quite loud and the caller could be heard clearly, even outdoors. The loudspeaker was also quite powerful and ringtones and speakerphone calls were heard with good clarity. 
Multimedia



The music player on the Corby Mate is pretty decent. It can sort music into various categories, can display album art and has several preset audio equalizers and can run in background while you go about doing other things.
Unfortunately, we did not receive the stereo headset required for testing the audio quality of the phone. The loudspeaker however was pretty loud and sounded quite well too. You can also use stereo Bluetooth headphones with the phone and they work quite well too.

The Samsung Corby Mate has a 2 megapixel camera with fixed focus. The camera is evidently not the highlight of the phone as can be seen from the fact that there isn't a flash or proper lens protection. The camera application too is similarly basic but gets the job done.

The quality of the camera is very basic, but then again what would you expect in a phone like this anyway? In daylight pictures come out well enough to be used for uploading online or viewing them on the phone's display. At night the lack of flash can result in some pretty dark and noisy images that aren't really usable in any way. The phone can also record videos in QVGA resolution at 15 FPS, but they too are nothing to write home about.

Considering that the display is only 2.0", one might not be interested in viewing photos and videos on this phone. The phone does not even have a proper gallery and you have to go through the file manager to view them. You can view images and videos in full-screen, but then that's about it.

hmm the phn is gud wid many features that lackk.. camera is good undoubtedly.. 320x240 resolution games work fine.. the battery backup is pathetic..arnd 4 hrs in my phn (thts creep..atleast for me).. pc connectivity is gud bt needs usb driver to connect.. sound is vry gud in earphones, very well in silent rooms bt definately worse in crowded rooms or loud phones.. bought it as a b'day gift..its about 10 mnths tht i hav used it...

Bought this phone for dusserah at Rs. 4900 PROS + Easy text menu and features + Compact keyboard. Bigger keys than Blackberry + Fair camera + Good connection to PC + Good battery life, even hat half the power CONS - Unreliable GUI - Too many menus. Hard to navigate - Poor in built games - Confusing shortcut keys Overall : Should the GUI (interface) be improved, its really a nice phone! Gets 4 stars

The phone is really superb, using it since a month, no problem what so ever, felt more exiting after started using it, java applications also get loaded easily. Cam quality is excellent. Battery back even though is not extra ordinary its quite ok Finally i am a proud possessor of mate. its my mate

i buyed this mobile on october 2009,all application are good,but theata cabble is working only when the pc suite cd is installes,some times it is creating problems in installing.however this phone is rated to 8/10,can any one tell me is ther any themes are available fr this pone

its a good one but................ tilting the phone while java applications is a little problem. And phone is not 3G is a major problem. but the colours are very sexy.. i like them. and screen is small. Price is very good.

Just as usual, Samsung makes something that is AWESOME on the paper, but has a fatal flaw, which makes the entire thing pointless. If they solve the java apps problem, and add a standard headphone jack people would buy this phone without a second thought. But without these two things, especially the screen mode problem, this phone is crippled. Hope there is some firmware update that might fix it. The low end segment is full of shit
