    Sony Ericsson Satio [Review]

Prasad Naik, Jan 13, 2010 1619 hrs IST

Impressive spec sheet, but will it perform as well? Let's find out

Good camera quality and features, large, high resolution display, great audio quality, connectivity features, 8 GB memory card supplied

Plasticky design, resistive touchscreen, utterly frustrating software and user interface, abysmal web browser, no 3.5mm headphone jack, no stereo speakers, no DivX/XviD support, poor quality supplied headset, horrible battery life

After the Xperia X1, Sony Ericsson did not come out with a new touchscreen phone for quite some time. Last year, however, they announced two new phones, the Aino and the Satio (back then called the Idou), both of which had impressive spec sheets (especially the latter) and were poised to bring the company back on track in the ever growing touchscreen phone market.

The Satio is pretty loaded phone and represents a couple of firsts for Sony Ericsson. It is the first phone from the company with a 12.2 megapixel camera and also the first to run the S60 operating system. But will this phone be able to stand up to the tough competition? We review the phone to find out.

This comment is posted by Mr. Naik somwhere downhere it is along with date and time : "Prasad Naik ,Mumbai, on Jan 15, 2010 01:21 PM Yes, I hate Sony Ericsson. I also hate every other cell phone manufacturer. Heck, I hate everything in this world, including you. Also Mr. Einstein, if it wasn't a resistive touchscreen they wouldn't have given a stylus with it. ". Now the Question is Whether this person is sane enough to review a phone ????? leave alone the SE or any other brand.

i would disagree with this article in every aspect of it' was written. somehow, i'm sensing the clear bias in reviewing the product out of whoever did this review. the phone is actually not bad. i would say, better than n97 or even samsung omnia. i'm using all the three phones, and each have its pros and cons.. the image quality was acknowledge as the best out of cameraphone by many experts that does not sound insanely bias.

Well i'm not the biggest fan os SE phones i found this article totally useless as all it does is project a strong negative feel about the phone and makes big issues about such tiny problems (the positioning of the bottom buttons for example) not. Every good (little) comment made in this article feels like they were only put there to not seem to harsh towards SE. Ok, SE are having a rubbish year and they are producing bad credit with there phones. I got half way through this article and got fed up wit hall the negative points, ok this phone may have a lot of issues, but so do many other phones. I also got sick of the constant comparison to the OmniaHD, why not compare to other phones? Try doing a better article please, this review was really useless and just pushes any people looking at the satio away. This review does bring up some important issues (that all over reviews picked up on) but drags on to far with the negative digging, move on and only make an issue over major problems not EVERY little fault spotted.

why have you changed your website's layout? Its doesn't looks good and difficult to read or find information. The previous one was far better, in readability too.

We always update the phone to the latest version before we start testing it. So yes, the Satio was also running the latest firmware.

Trust me, I had some really high expectation from this phone and I was expecting some good performance. Perhaps that's why my disappointment with it was high as I did not expect it to perform as bad as it did. And no, it really was bad.
