Nokia s Maemo 5 powered N900 will be soon getting its first firmware update, according to folks at Nokia Conversations. In fact, the update has already been rolled out in many locations and will soon be available everywhere the N900 is currently on sale.
This update is offered in two versions. One is the normal update that can be done using the PC Suite using Nokia Software Updater. The other option is the easier Over the Air update. If your N900 is perennially online, it should ideally receive a prompt asking you to update the phone since an update is available. This seems to be a very minor update that does not add much functionality to the device. Apparently, this is being used to enable the Ovi Store application for the N900.
Nokia s Ovi Store has mostly seen participation from S60 based handsets and the Maemo being a different platform required the need for a separate division where all Maemo 5 users can download applications for their N900. That, apparently, is now ready and that is the reason to push this update forth. If you have a spare N900 lying around, why not try and update?
can any one tell me about last issue that we can not use service command like *#06# or commands begins with * via dial pad , is this issue resolved in new firmware.
When is the phone itself coming to India?? The phone is available in the Gulf regions but the Selfish company does not give International Warranty or support in India. Somebody please give some competion to this company and give us Indians something good instead of making us play second fiddle!
