Sony has introduced new VAIO W series "Eco Edition" at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show 2010 convention at Las Vegas. Equipped with new Intel Pine Trail Atom platform, Sony VAIO W series Eco Edition 212AX mini notebook has reprocessed plastic chassis that has about 20 percent recycled CDs. Priced at $480 (Rs. 23,000 approx.), this new VAIO W mini notebook would be available from today at Sony Style stores in U.S.
Sony VAIO W series Eco Editon 212AX mini sports 10.1-inch LED backlit Widescreen HD display supporting 1366x768 pixel resolution. As a part of hardware, Sony packs 1.66GHz Intel Atom 'Pineview' N450 microprocessor, Intel GMA 3150 for graphics, 1GB DDR2 RAM and 250GB HDD for storage. Sony boasts of up to 8 hours (default settings) of battery life in single charge - all due to the Intel Pine Trail platform.
With built-in parental controls, the mini notebook features Kidzui and Online Family Norton software for safer online experience for the kids. This netbook has built-in Motion Eye camera and microphone. Other features include Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n), Multimedia card reader, Expresscard /34 Slot and 82-keys bearing keyboard with electro-static touchpad.
VAIO W series Eco Edition comes pre-loaded with Windows 7 Started Edition. How we wish if Sony had added some Nvidia ION goodies for that price.
