    TouchSmart tm2 convertible notebook arrives with Mini 5102, 210 and 2102 netbooks

At the ongoing CES 2010, HP has announced new HP TouchSmart tm2 convertible, touch-enabled laptop PC along with new Mini netbooks. HP Mini lineup consists of new Mini 5102, Mini 210 and Mini 2102 netbooks of which 5102 is expected to arrive next month while the other two Mini models would be available from today in U.S.  If you can quickly look back, the information about TouchSmart tm2, Mini 5102, Mini 210 and Mini 2102 leaked out with HP softpaq file.

TouchSmart tm2
The 12.1-inch TouchSmart tm2 convertible tablet-notebook has rounded corners and design cues from HP Envy series notebooks. At the starting price of $949 (Rs. 45,600 approx.), TouchSmart tm2 would be available in U.S. markets from January 17.

New TouchSmart tm2 convertible follows HP's TouchSmart tx2 tablet notebook. The company has built TouchSmart tm2 with "Riptide" engraved illustration on its aluminum chassis and features 12.1-inch capacitive multi-touch display technology. This display can understand multitouch gestures like zoom, scroll and rotate using more than one finger.




In terms of hardware, TouchSmart tm2 is equipped with Intel's ultra-low voltage Core 2 Duo processor and optional ATI Mobility Radeon HD graphics. Packing standard 6-cell battery, HP boasts of nine hours battery life with tm2.

TouchSmart tm2 features a number of touch-friendly applications like BumpTop, DigiFish Dolphin, Corel Paint it! Touch and many others. This touch-enabled tablet notebook will features exclusive touch-enabled games and applications like Twitter, HP Music Store, Netflix, Hulu Desktop, etc. Of these, BumpTop offers a touch-enhanced 3D interface for organizing photos and documents with the "toss" effect. Draw and paint photos using fingerprint with Corel Paint it! Touch and one can also turn photos into paintings.

Mini 5102
Targeted at mobile professionals and students, Mini 5102 netbook features optional handle to carry it around. Packing Intel's new Pine Trail platform, this netbook has Broadcom's 1080p HD Video acceleration chip. HP offers this Mini 5102 in standard version or touch-enabled version for those who wish to get their work done in a jiffy. Built with anodized-aluminum display enclosure, Mini 5102 will be available in U.S. later this month at price starting at $400 (Rs. 19,200 approx.) in Black, Red or Blue brushed colors.

HP Mini 5102 has 10.1-inch LED display available in WSVGA or HD resolutions. Equipped with 1.66GHz Intel Atom Pineview N450 processor, this netbook has Broadcom HD video acceleration chip that enables 720p and 1080p video content playback smoothly.





Featuring 95 percent of full-size QWERTY keyboard and touchpad, Mini 5102 also has built-in 2 megapixel webcam with HP Facerecognition for security.

HP will offer 4-cell with Mini 5102 by default and 6-cell battery pack as option which promises 10 hours of battery life. This netbook would also be available HP Student Edition that will bring Adobe Digital School Collection software and could be configured with optional handle.

Mini 210, 2102

After playing hide and seek online, HP has formally announced the new HP Mini 210 netbook which was recently listed with an online retailer. Measuring less than 1-inch thin, the new Mini 210 series netbooks weigh 1.22kgs. HP offers Mini 210 in stylish Black Crystal, Silver Crystal, Pacific Blue or Sonoma Red colors while Mini 2102 is available in Black color.

Both Mini 210 and 2102 are equipped with 1.66GHz Intel Atom 'Pineview' N450 processor and offers 1GB of DDR2 memory by default. For storage, one can add up to 320GB HDD. Other features include built-in webcam and mic, VGA port, island/chiclet keyboard, five-in-1 multimedia card reader and Intel GMA 3150 integrated graphics.



For viewing HD content, HP offers Broadcom's Crystal HD Enhanced Video Accelerator for playback of 720p and 1080p HD video content. Also, 3G Broadband connectivity card and GPS software would be offered as an option. For accessing content offline, HP bundles slew of services that include CloudDrive, MediaStream, QuickSync and QuickWeb.

Out of these services, CloudDrive is a ZumoDrive powered solution that allows accessing multimedia content stored on cloud servers without downloading them to HDD. MediaStream enables streaming multimedia content from Mini to other PC/laptop using Internet. The files created, edited and accessed on the go are automatically synchronized with home or office desktop through QuickSync software.

Imitating the instant-on behavior, QuickWeb takes the user online in few seconds by pressing a button. Windows 7 loaded HP Mini 210 will be available later today in U.S. at price starting $300 (Rs. 14,400 approx.) while Mini 2102 would be priced at $330 (Rs. 15,840 approx.).

These notebooks and netbooks were announced today and would take a month or maybe more to be available outside U.S.
