Apple must be enjoying the pre-launch hype of its secret product Apple iSlate (purported) and now, some half-cooked specs sheet has buzzed the web. If you can recollect, Gizmodo gave an exhaustive walkthrough of the much rumored Microsoft Courier Booklet which was later termed as one of the prototypes by Ina Fried of CNET. But now, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer will launch HP made tablet during Microsoft Keynote at the Consumer Electronics Show 2010 starting tomorrow, reported The New York Times.
Ballmer, in his keynote which is due tomorrow, might launch an HP made slate like tablet device that will be multi touch friendly with eBook reader and other multimedia functions. If there is going to be an HP made tablet, then Microsoft better have some leads in the tablet game. Reason being simple that Apple is heavily rumored to launch Apple iSlate.
Earlier, Microsoft Courier was viewed merely as a concept but now, it looks a close possibility. As of now, no details are available on the form factor or the screens of this rumored tablet. Apple's product launch event is scheduled in the last week of this month.
Recently, Lenovo introduced IdeaPad U1 Hybrid notebook that had detachable multi-touch supporting tablet screen. This tablet was equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon microprocessor and boasted 512MB memory.
It's difficult to confirm whether Microsoft will be launching the tablet or not but the CES 2010 is almost here. So, we shall wait for the Steve Ballmer's keynote.
Strange that Ballmer would put his tablet plans on hold for years, to wait to see what Apple would do.
Will Microsoft's slate run on an energy-efficient ARM processor? Or will it be another x86 heat belching box? Those little Smartbooks with ARM processors are showing what can be done with energy efficiency, running continuously on batteries for 10 hours.
The real issue for Microsoft is: What has happened to Windows Mobile 7? Has it gone missing in action? It's time to show us, Steve Ballmer.
Why so much concern Amanda? One thing I can guarantee you for sure is that, this MS based Tablet regardless by whom it's made will offer 10x the functionality of the crApple Tablet!
