    Google's Nexus One is Here

Is this the iPhone killer you were waiting for?

    mail share

We knew this was coming but since now things are official, let us go ahead and do the official "launch" news story!

So, the much sought after "GooglePhone", the Nexus One has been officially unveiled by Google (in chagrin with HTC) at its much talked about Android Press Event earlier today. The  phone, termed by Google as a "superphone" has the looks, the specs and the backing to take on the mighty iPhone. The specs which are the same as we had posted in our earlier stories about this device does make the phone a powerful computing device -- all neatly bundled in a 11.9mm, 130gram package. The Nexus One is now officially available in the US and will soon be available in "most countries" across the globe. Officially, it is not here in India though as yet. We would be taking an in-depth look at the phone, its future prospects and if this thing really blows the iPhone away.

The unlocked Nexus One would set you back by a cool USD 529, (Rs.25,000) which seems to be a good price for the phone of this calibre. That by the way sure does not look like the price at which the Nexus One will arrive officially in India! That said, the current iteration of the phone does NOT support the 3G bands that will be operational in India (hopefully, this year). However, Google has confirmed that more localized versions of the Nexus One is on the anvil -- so we have that bit covered.

For now, we leave you with a few snapshots and tid bits about the device.

A detailed report follows.

I really don't think that nexus one will come to India as google has no plans to launch the any other phone like nexus..people who might be waiting for this phone in India should get it from other sources..there will not be any other models or Nexus 2 versions etc for this phone. PS: Google launched this phone to get the market overview for there Andriod software. They team working on the OS wants to get the OS to the market. Now, they have clearly mentioned that they doesn't have any further plans for the phones. Official words : Yes, we done it with phone. Now stop it and start focus on Andriod !! Please stop faking this news all over the forums/blogs as people will led to misleading and they keep waiting for this awesome device. Offcourse, Nexus one will ONLY the first and last model of Google but it will be the first model that will get upgrade to future versions of Andriod's as compared to HTC, Samsung and other Manufactures !

Specs like 8oo x 480pixels display on a 3.7 inches with AMOLED is definitely a winner when compared to Omnia HD, I-Phone and top rung models.

" the current iteration of the phone does NOT support the 3G bands that will be operational in India (hopefully, this year)." The phone support UMTS 2100 MHz and 2100 MHz is being auctioned for 3G operations in India (ref Dept of Telecom website, spectrum auction). Perhaps you need to explain how you came to that conclusion.

Where did you get the info that this version of Nexus One does not support the 3G bands that will be operational in India?? The 3G spectrum being auctioned i mostly UMTS 2100 (Band 1), and that is supported by Nexus One in teh specs.

3g or not it is the best phone we can get under 25000 (Aprox) . but i will only buy it if it is not an exclusive phone (like it will be sold by reliance , vodaphone or tata) & it is the perfect apple i phone killer but is not available in India at present
