Philips seems to be concentrating more on China these days. With the company having released Android based phones in the past, it seems to have set its eyes on another OS Windows Mobile 6.5 which finds itself running on Philips latest smartphone, the D908, currently available only in China.

The D908 has made its official appearance on the Microsoft China website and is set to be released by China Telecom. The Microsoft website also has detailed specs of the D908, which doesn't seem to be bad at all. The design of the phone is a mixed bag though. The sharp edges might make it look like a distant relative of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. As for the aforementioned specs, the D908 boasts of a 5-megapixel camera, a large 3.2-inch display (WVGA). It comes with a GB of RAM and 2GB of ROM. MicroSD cards of up to 32GB are supported which translates into a decent storage capacity should you buy a large capacity card.

On the connectivity front, the D908 boasts of almost everything you would need ranging from Wi-Fi, EVDO, GSM, Bluetooth, to good ol USB. The D908 should be made available to the Chinese junta by early 2010. What we are not aware of now is the price at which this device would be sold. There is also a big question mark whether Philips thinks this phone is capable enough to make it to markets outside of China.
