Asus Eee PC 1005PE Adds Atom N450 CPU

Asus has introduced new Eee PC 1005PE with recently announced Pineview 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor. With the new Pineview processor, Asus Eee PC 1005PE boasts of Intel GMA 3150 graphics and standard netbook features. In a way, this netbook is the Pineview edition of currently hot selling Eee PC 1005HA that we reviewed in late October. Mind you, this Eee PC 1005PE will come with Windows 7 Starter edition.
Following the Asus Seashell netbook design style, the new Eee PC 1005PE features the recently announced 1.66GHz Intel Pineview Atom processor. This 45nm process manufactured Pineview chip has integrated graphics and memory on the same die. The chip has 512kb cache and supports 667MHz DDR2 Memory. For graphics, Asus pleases with Intel GMA 3150 integrated graphics for rich Internet browsing and entertainment experience.
Asus offers 1GB DDR2 memory and 250GB hard disk for storage by default. This Eee PC 1005PC has single button trackpad and chiclet keyboard layout similar to 1005HA and 1008HA. The 10-inch LED-backlight display offers 1024x600 pixel resolution and is glossy by nature so will tend to catch fingerprints on it.
Other features include a 0.3 megapixel webcam, Wi-Fi (b/g), LAN port, microphone, VGA port, headphone jack, three USB 2.0 port and memory card reader.
Just like 1005HA, the battery life with 6-cell battery can be expected to be more than 6 hours considering the Pineview processor packed.
