Palm demonstrated its web-based development environment dubbed Ares last month. As promised, this web-based development environment is now available for general public to develop apps for webOS. With easy drag-n-drop interface building, Ares brings mobile app development right to the browser. Visit http://ares.palm.com for creating a developer account and logging in.

The best part about Ares is that one won't require any additional tools, except update the Java software. This completely integrated environment in the form of Ares features robust code editor, drag-n-drop supporting interface builder, visual debugger, log viewer, source control integration.

So now, anyone with great mobile app ideas can start developing mobile app right in the browser. One does not require core level coding skills but its possession is always an advantage. Palm has opened the gates for amateur and semi-professional level mobile application developers for developing apps right in the browser.

However, this is an open invitation for several amateur and unpolished apps. What would be really interesting is the app approval bench. Palm clearly looks to outdo Apple's strategy and now the crucial phase lies in app approval process.

Now, you need no Mojo (sdk) - just fire up your browser and start developing apps.
