The Twitter app has finally made its way in Microsoft's Zune HD, as promised earlier. This Twitter App for Zune HD is available for free through Zune Marketplace. Yesterday, Microsoft released Bing App for iPhone OS platform and now, is getting in to the "App-Store" groove with it. Even the Facebook app should arrive anytime soon but no specific date has been declared. All this excitement is limited only for U.S. since that's where Zune HD is available.

The Twitter app for Zune HD looks slick but comes with a compromise that it won't work in landscape. From that brief hands on by CNET's Donald Bell and Engadget's Nilay Patel, we believe that the Twitter app 1.0 for Zune HD is still very beta by nature. It suffers from lags, and won't be as prolific like the iPhone Apps such as Tweetie or Echofon.

With normal buttons for Tweets, @ mentions, Favorties and Direct Messages, this app also updates currently playing track information with tap of single button. Users can log-in and send-read Twitter updates through their Wi-Fi connection.

Patel pointed out that just this Twitter app for Zune HD blocks profanity and reminds us of what Apple did with apps bearing obscene content. Also, as Bell pointed out, Microsoft hasn't put in any ads in the app.

Since Zune HD is limited to consumers in U.S., the update process might take a while, considering the volume of consumers actively using it. Several features and services support could be added. However, those would be dependent on the users' demands. Had Microsoft launched Zune HD worldwide, it would've got more Twitter fans' love.
