The JooJoo Now Available for PreOrder

The controversial JooJoo, earlier known as the Crunchpad, has gone for sale in U.S. with its manufacturer Fusion Garage announcing that it is now accepting preorders for the Internet Tablet.

The JooJoo has been launched at a time when TechCrunch has filed a suit Fusion Garage for breach of fiduciary duty, misappropriation of business ideas, fraud, deceit, and unfair competition. The filing also talks about a lot of exhibits that include the e-mail interactions between Fusion Garage CEO Chandra Rathakrishnan and TechCrunch's Michael Arrington - who can arguably be referred to as the father of the Crunchpad er JooJoo. Amidst all this, Fusion Garage has silently updated its site for the JooJoo to indicate that they have started accepting preorders for the device.

The Official JooJoo site also lists an accessory called the "dock" for the JooJoo, which will be sold separately. The JooJoo, as mentioned in one of our earlier posts is an internet tablet made wit h the sole intention of letting users browse the internet in all its glory whenever they want, wherever they want (as long as you have an accessible Wi-Fi hotspot around, mind you). It boasts of a 12.1 inch capacitve touchscreen display with support for multitouch gestures. The unit weighs in at just 1.1 kg and by the looks of it, seems quite portable as well. The JooJoo will ship with a 4GB SSD and at least initially would cost $499 (Rs. 23,313 approx.) - which is way off the $200 (Rs. 9,300 approx.) tablet that Arrington had conjured.

Anyway, early adopters might want to lap up the most controversial tech product of the year as soon as possible because with the legal wrangles going around this thing, we never know how long will the party last for Fusion Garage and the JooJoo.
