Iomega has specialized in making external hard drives for just about every possible scenario. Their drives that we have reviewed so far have been elegant and the Iomega UltraMax 1TB with us today is no different. Just one look at it and you can easily make out that it is made primarily with the Mac in mind. In addition to the usual USB 2.0, it also boasts of FireWire 400, FireWire 800 (usually found in the Mac) and even the blazing fast eSATA interface. We are very much excited to review this drive, as we expect nothing less than splendid performance. Let's find out if it really performs as well as we expect it to do.

Bundle

  • Iomega UltraMax 1TB
  • USB cable
  • FireWire 400 cable
  • FireWire 800 cable
  • eSATA cable
  • Power adapter with two different replaceable plug types
  • Quick Start Guide

Iomega does not provide a software CD with this drive, instead the software is available for download from the site and the license code for them is mentioned on the included brochure. It comes with a plastic stand with aluminum-like finish to keep it upright.

Stylish looks, good features, 1 TB . But too pricey - for that one buy Transcend External Case with Esata and plug an Seagate 1 TB - it will costs only 6.5k. No need of Firewire as Esata is more used than firewire and is more faster than it.

Typo.. " As can be seen above, the reported capacity of the drive in Windows Properties is 931 MB." MB???
