You can find information about anything by simply pointing your camera at it
Just a few days after their Google Favorite Places initiative, Google wants to use your phone's camera for more than just taking snaps. Christened as Google Goggles, this experimental "labs" feature lets you find more information about anything by simply taking its picture from your camera-phone. You can search for landmarks, books, contact information, artwork, places and more.
They've also implementing augmented reality in Google Goggles. So, you simply point the camera viewfinder to say, a restaurant and the name of the restaurant will appear at the bottom of the screen. To read more about the restaurant, you just need to click that name. You can read then read the restaurant's reviews and even rate it.
Another interesting aspect of Google Goggles is that it also works as a business card scanner. It is still in a developmental stage and currently is available only for Android devices. Check out Google's demonstration video here.
Sound interesting.
I think Nokia was promoting this stuff earlier as future development plan.
Good that Google was able to implement it already.
I look forward for a support for another platforms. e.g. Symbian
