When LG introduced the Jazz series sometime last year there was something very special about it. After all, it was the first TV we received that had sliding speakers, which added a cool factor to an otherwise mundane device. Now LG has sent us the Jazz Theater series, which is an upgrade to the older Jazz. This is not a replacement, as many might think, since the core features have remained the same. So if you don't want to spend a lot but still want good sound you can go for the older model.
The main upgrade here is the speaker system. We now have a nine speaker setup plus a subwoofer instead of a seven speaker system. Thanks to this, you can now have a maximum of 5.1 channel Virtual Surround Sound. The sliding speakers have been done away with and instead we have a more aggressive looking front with bold speaker grills on the side illuminated in blue neon light. The new Jazz also uses the 09 version of the XD Engine, which I'm hoping is an improvement over the one used in the previous Jazz, and not just a naming gimmick.
Apart from this there are other minute changes as well, like, three HDMI ports, a lower 2ms response time, TruMotion 200Hz and a much higher Contrast ratio. This still uses the IPS panel of course and comes with a full HD resolution.
Now that we know what to expect, let's see if it's able to deliver as promised.
