If you're a gamer or know someone whose a budding gamer, then today we make things easier for you. We've compiled a list of what we think are some really great PC games (some old, some new) that are now available for a throwaway price. This was a really tough one actually, since there are plenty of great games whose prices have dropped to very affordable levels. So instead of buying a single game worth a couple of thousands, you could get two or even three equally great games for the same price.
This list is of course not absolute and many more can be added. We've tried to limit the list to some of the best must-play titles that every beginner should try, while at the same time make a great gift for a seasoned gamer for his collection. We've included most of the popular genres that we could think of and here's our list (not in any particular order) along with their prices, so if you've missed them before, here's your chance to grab them at a really good price.
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Price: Rs. 699
This is a third person action-adventure game that's brilliantly made and immense fun to play. You reprise the role of Batman, as you fight your way through Arkham Asylum among the chaos and destruction created by none other than the Joker. The level design is very well done and since its built on the Unreal 3 engine, it will easily run on a modest gaming system. For this price, it's really good value for money.
Grand Theft Auto IV
Price: Rs. 499
This has got to be the deal of the century. Imagine a game that spreads across two dual layer DVDs including a huge fold out map of Liberty City, all this for just Rs. 499! And what a game it is; GTA IV is sure to keep you occupied for hours and there's tons of replay value in the form of side missions and a strong multiplayer component as well.
Burnout Paradise
Price: Rs. 999
This long running franchise has finally hit the PC, and Paradise is the best looking of the lot. A dramatic shift from the regular gameplay, you now have a free roam mode. You can explore Paradise city and engage in various types of races in order to unlock more cars. This isn't as cheap as the other games but is definitely worth buying.
Its really great but what about the Splinter Cell Series are the rates of the series is coming down? And can you please let me know where i can get these games?
These price drops are really awesome. Hopefully it'll lead to a boom in the PC gaming scene, at least. I recently bought Dragon Age and Batman : AA recently. Sweet deals!
@fahd: I ordered them on ebay. I don't know which stored sell them, though. PlanetM and Landmark may have it. Haven't checked them out personally, though.
lol at the laptop comment by Roydon Cerejo. I am able to play Warhead on my HP dv6 at High-Very High settings at 1280x720 with 25-35 fps. These settings are enough to enjoy the game. These Alienware fanboys need to realise that its overpriced and overrated.
I was at the Hyper City in the "Inorbit" mall in Hyderabad & when i saw the prices of these games i literally cried out Holy !@#$ cause i couldn't believe my eyes, i was like man did they get cheap or what?? picked up a few titles immediately..
,it was Baambay, now Amrika, on Dec 06, 2009 11:23 AM
Holy Superman, Dragon Age just 999 there. Thats fantastic. Oh btw only 1 flaw, Mr. Writer. There are actually better performing laptops than Alienware. I played warhead on my _laptop_ at 1680x1050 and completed it, and no its not an alienware... ever heard of real laptop brands like Sager, Clevo, and Compal? If not, please read up on them.
ohkay!! Modern Warfare 2 is overpriced !!?? are you kidding me !? its not yet released for the PC (In India)
and how can you forget the Mention Left 4 Dead 2 ? its just Rs.699.!!
Thanks for the review. Now, I can afford to buy original games since the prices are so less. Also would love to see a review specially for multiplayer games.
