Ubisoft has announced that next game in its Prince of Persia franchise is under development and will be released in 2010. Created by Jordan Mechner, the new game is dubbed Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and would be released for gaming consoles and handhelds.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will take the players to the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time story line. This installment will have many "fan-favorite elements" of the series and new gameplay innovations. Also, Jerry Bruckheimer movie Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is due for release next year in May.

It's quite likely that Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands would be released along side the movie matching the same story line of The Sands of Time.

More details about the game would be revealed at Spike TV's Video Game Award on December 12.

I wonder if they had plan to combine both POP (2008) with POP: sand of time into the 2010 version

Ah! Some great news at last! My mind races back in time to those wonderful moments I had playing that game. How can I ever forget... 1 Farah, 2 The look and the feel, 3 The combat system itself, 4 The gripping storyline, and finally... the icing on the cake... 5 The "stolen" kiss!! I wish the team wholeheartedly and hope they will come up with another timeless masterpiece!!!
