    33 percent slimmer, 36 percent lighter PS3 Slim finally arrives

Console gamers would be delighted to know that the recently announced Sony PlayStation 3 Slim gaming console will be available in India for Rs. 19,990. It should be noted that the existing PlayStation 3 gaming console is already offered for the same price. However, the catch is that the normal PS3 console costs Rs. 19,990 and bundles along free copies of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Uncharted: Drakes Fortune.

PlayStation 3 Slim has 45nm process technology made cell processor while the normal PS3 has 60nm process technology made cell processor. The new PS3 Slim is 33 percent smaller, weighs 36 percent lighter than other PS3 model and can be used horizontally. Due to compact form factor, the power consumption can be brought down by two thirds as compared with the normal model.

Also, PS3 Slim comes with 120GB HDD as against the 80GB available in the normal PS3 console being sold at the moment. Practically, the PS3 Slim is the slimmer and lighter version of PS3. Even the HDD drive bay has been placed in the front for easy access and upgrade "without" voiding the warranty.

Even though you'll get the Bluetooth, built-in Wi-Fi and Blu-ray Discs playback support, the new PS3 Slim won't be backward compatible. So, all your PlayStation 2 Games won't be playable on it. Also, geek gamers won't be able to install Linux on PS3. The normal PS3 console is available for the same price but with two extra games and support for PS2 games. Of course, geeks can install Linux on their normal PS3's hard drive. The bait is open and clear.
