Cedarview processor will support DirectX 10.1, DDR3 1066MHz and HD playback
Intel's Pine Trail platform is expected later this year and new buzz on the web indicates that the 32nm CPU based Atom platform will be introduced in 2011. Dubbed as Cedar Trail platform, this Atom supporting platform sounds like the successor of Pine Trail-M. This Cedar Trail platform will have 32nm CPU dubbed Cedarview, Fudzilla reported.
The Cedarview will be yet another Atom CPU manufactured over 32nm technology and would be part of Cedar Trail platform. Cedarview would be an advanced Atom CPU with DirectX 10.1 3D graphics processing support and HD video output support in dually digital mode - DisplayPort and HDMI. Furthermore, the 32nm Cedarview chip will integrate DDR3 memory controller just like the one in Core i7 chips and will support DDR3 1066MHz memory modules.
This update hasn't been confirmed by Intel yet but the company said that the plans for 32nm Medfield in 2011 are on track. The Pine Trail platform for mobile computers is expected to release in early 2010 and last till 2011 where Cedar Trail jumps in. Hopefully, the thin line between netbooks, ultraportables and notebooks prevails. Otherwise there are smartbooks like Nokia's Booklet 3G that will set a different mobile computing segment.
