List of feature-rich phones that are priced on par with the current iPhone 3G
Nokia N97 mini
The younger brother of the N97 packs in most of the features of the older brother but sheds a few millimeters and the D-pad to achieve a more compact body. Features wise the phone packs almost all the features that the N97 has. You get the full QWERTY keypad for all your messaging needs. Then there is the large 3.2-inch, 640 x 360 pixel touchscreen display, 5 Megapixel camera, VGA resolution video recording, 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo loudspeakers and a full range of connectivity features covering 3G HSDPA to W-Fi and GPS. The N97 mini has everything that you'd want from a smartphone and more. The phone is priced at Rs. 30,000.
Looks like mommy refused to buy the iPhone for little Sid and now the grapes are sour. I mean seriously are those the best cons u could come up with for the 3GS? The next thing u will demand is a telescopic antenna. Wake up sid ;-)
sid, the iphone 3GS has tethering supported.. you can use the phone as a modem.. no problem u c.. :) FM radio at this pricepoint? i dont care! bluetooth file transfer.. umm yes that is something disappointing but nothing i cannot live without either!
If it is the question of "living without some feature or other", I would prefer to live without iPhone.
Moreover, if you noticed, the world comes to an end in 2012 and there are no iphones around... it is totally dominated by M600i, a phone with no features at all (no FM, no WiFi, no camera, you name it and it is not there). Am a proud owner of this no features, no frills phone. Who needs iPhone?
The reason Apple won't allow bluetooth file transfer cuz ppl will transfer songs, iTunes I can buy songs and with a patch send it to other ppl. Copyright infringment. Also, you can use iPhone as a modem. I'm not sure what's the deal with FM radio, but you can easily get radiostations by visiting their websites on iphone or there's applications here (in US like Pandora) that give u access to radio from ur iPhone. PS right now I have an iPhone 3GS but I plan on selling it and getting a SE Satio when I visit India next month...
Mr. Max, aaple fanboys also run away when faced with logical questions, they say i dont use FM radio, Bluetooth. My point is its always good to have features than not to have at all. And "revolutionary" tethering support was just recently added , it wasnt there earlier. Just never compare with features, all know that its 4 years old product in terms of features, get a life ifanboys, your community is soooo tiny guys. Same way as you shout about Macs and other i products which restrict users to do even simple things. I dont want to be dumb , I want to to more with my phone to suit my way, Not other way round. I like my way not iway :-) You just cant justify apple, thats why they sell just tiny %
I was about to buy the Samsung Omnia, but when i actually held it in my hand, it was very light weight and felt cheap. It didn't feel as durable and the quality of materials was not there. I bought the i-phone and have never been happier with any toy in my life. It is by far the best phone around.
If anyone is there screaming?for iphone,I am sure its love at first sight. In INDIA is it really worth spending around 40k(unlocked) for what you call awesome phone and that too with our present carriers.Tose who have hard earned money seldom goes for it
