After Microsoft integrated social networks in its Xbox LIVE Dashboard recently, Sony is rumored to be working for social network integration in its PlayStation 3 XMB.
Scrawlfx Gaming news site stumbled over three PlayStation 3 XMB images on the PlayStation UK website that indicated Facebook integration and Gamercards en route. However, the images were pulled down when we checked.
Following Xbox 360's footsteps, Sony might be integrating Facebook and Gamercards in the next firmware update of PlayStation 3. The three images showed Facebook, Gamercard support in the PS3 XMB and the images were hosted at PlayStation UK website. Nonetheless, the images were removed later. The only surprising part is that the images carry notations inside the XMB in language other than English.
By bringing support for social networks like Facebook and Twitter, the gaming console makers enable the gamers to flaunt their skills online. Obviously the basic purpose behind it is to check and interact on the social networks through the consoles.
Last month, Sony was rumored to be working on cross-game chat but the information was removed from the forums. So, we believe there is some substance in these leaks. If not next then maybe a future PS3 firmware update will have social networks and cross-game chat.
yes this sounds very good, but to be onesty this want satisfy many playstation users.we need things that will make ps3 even more enjoyable and bettter than xbox.xbox have sky player that is very good, and now they have facebook and twitter and what makes this even better is they don’t have internet. we shouldn't be copying xbox we should bring out something for the playstation 3 that will put xbox outta business.bbc iplayer on ps3 is rubish its just a quick shortcut to get into it we can already axcess it from the internet so their aint no point.we need a new dashboard our previous one is very old and needs to be updated.their is nothing fun about scrolling up and down over and over again. we also need our what’s new to be updated more often just like xbox
