The HD5850 is currently the more affordable version in the HD58xx series and who other than Asus to bring us the first sample for testing. Of course being a smaller sibling of the HD5870, the processing power has to be cut down a bit, so ATI have disabled one of the SIMD units. This leaves the shader count at 1440 from 1600, while core speed has been dropped to 725MHz and memory clocked at 1000MHz. Overall we are looking at a speed decrease of around 10-15%. However, the rest remains the same, so we still get GDDR5 memory, 40nm die, etc.
